Inspiring Hope Story about Alden’s House!

Publication1 (2)

The story of this ministry was shared to me by a dear and trusted friend of mine.  Due to the sensitive nature of human trafficking, the founders of this ministry and this story (my friend and her friend) have chosen to remain anonymous because of the simple fact that there are people (that are making money human trafficking)  who want to stop them from protecting these children.  When I heard about the reality that there are boys and girls in Kansas that are coerced and kidnapped into human trafficking, I was stirred to move into action by making you, my tribe of followers, aware of the need to rally and help bring the ministry goals of  Alden’s House to life.  After you read this story, if you find that you want to join in helping, please check out their website at www.aldenshouse.org or message me and I will connect you to the key leaders in the Ministry.  It is my prayer that this story will move us into action, so that we can join in the mission of Alden’s House “to create a comprehensive community that will completely embrace, restore, and provide continuing support for children that have been victimized by human trafficking.”  God is doing some amazing things in our city, let’s join Him in making a positive difference!

Alden’s House Inspiring Hope Story

In the winter of 2012, I watched a video raising awareness for human trafficking. I don’t remember the details of the video, but I will never forget the final frame: “Now you know…what will you do?”

I knew of few options for a stay-at-home mom with three small children in Kansas…send money overseas? So several friends and I organized a chili feed fundraiser event to “do” something. God used that little meeting to stir something deep in my spirit. A survivor/advocate told her story about trafficking that happened a mere forty-five minutes from my comfortable seat in church. This wasn’t a small orphan overseas; this was a middle class Kansas girl attending a well respected Kansas school. Immediately, I knew we needed to turn our eyes to the horror right here.

After the event I researched domestic sex trafficking. The results stunned me. The average age for a girl or boy to be coerced into trafficking is 12-14 years old (although survivors in Topeka were sold as young as 18 months old). Sixty to eighty percent of these children come from the foster care system and are “forgotten” as no one tries to find them. They are lured by shrewd traffickers into the system through a loving relationship (often called “daddy” or “boyfriend”) that becomes violent as the trafficker uses psychological torture to enslave a child. They are moved around, often along the same highways we drive for family vacations. They are used 15-20 times a night in truck stops and motels. If they survive until they are 18, estimates say the abuse is over 10,000 times per child.

In one raid in New York City it was found that 1 in 8 of the young girls rescued were from Kansas (significantly higher then any other state). Their wholesomeness and naïveté make them easy prey. In the United States alone there are 100,000 identified children in sex trafficking. The most common shelter for those rescued is a juvenile detention center. There are 500 beds in restorative shelters for these 100,000 children, and the state of Kansas has four.

There are vast problems and few resources locally, so God laid on our hearts to become voices for the voiceless. Initially, we hoped to establish a home shaped around the needs of trauma care, but a shelter is only part of the answer. These children need a “forever” community to counteract the perverse bonding manipulated through torture. Their families also need comprehensive help to overcome the obstacles that create the vulnerability in the first place. So God designed a connection with the ministry of Safe Families/Lifeline Adoption Agency. This partnership continues to develop as God moves.

Alden's House

The Alden’s House team (named for two of our team members’ godly grandfathers) feels that alone an individual cannot be successful in this war, but God is weaving together a team of social workers, therapists, pastors, nurses, doctors, lawyers, teachers and business pros who believe that our small gifts go far when the Holy Spirit uses them. We are building a team that has professional skills but will also make dinner for a struggling family. Our mission is that we, the Church, CAN do simple things to show Jesus’ love and hope. We firmly believe the Gospel in us allows us to authentically say to the walking dead that the resurrection power is real.

Our prayer is that through God mobilizing us for His children, you can hear His call. So we pray for eyes to see and ears to hear for our community. Come join Him in this battle. You can DO something.

This article reviewed some basic info to keep in mind, as well as how you can find options to purchase medicaments. With the Internet flooded with various web-sites selling numerous medications, purchasing remedies online is no longer a trouble for most of us. There are medications intended only for children. A lot of soundness care providers know about “sildenafil blood circulation“. What customers talk about “does viagra work“? Don’t forget, consider “how much is viagra“. Professionals agree that solving ED on your own is unsafe. Finally most side effects vary depending on the dosage. Get in touch with your health and stay healthy for long years.

Wendi & Jenny Unrein’s Inspiring Hope Story

I know Wendi & Jenny from our Church.  (My Mom is actually the one who introduced me to them.)  These ladies have hearts of gold and I love how God has knit their lives together to encourage the people who come in contact with them.  What I think is really cool is that Wendi has helped Jenny use her gifts to serve the Lord and make a positive difference in our world.   When I hopped over to their website,  it instantly brought a smile to my face.  Jenny’s artwork is bright and cheery!  As a former kindergarten teacher, I always encouraged my kids to pursue their dreams and follow their passions in life.   A “pay it forward” community of supporters is what can unlock the potential within another person and unleash them to do great things for God! That’s just what has happened in Jenny’s life.  She is surrounded by people that love and support her and this has given her the opportunity to use her gifts and talents to encourage others.   You don’t want to miss seeing their website.  It can be found at  http://www.jennyludesigns.com/

Wendi & Jenny’s Inspiring Hope Story
I met Jenny 20 years ago this past July and was smitten in an instant. She was a precious six and I was a newly transplanted 33 year old from the Chicago area, on fire for the Lord, wanting to grow in my faith.  Her dad, Eric and I became smitten right away and married soon after.  Both our lives changed drastically with God’s patient
guiding hand directing us.  I don’t use that term lightly as this marriage was thunderous from the beginning, but Jenny’s gift of innocence and love tempered many a storm and our relationship cemented immediately.
Jenny was born with Williams Syndrome, a genetic disorder, that to those on the outside looking in saw it as a developmental disability but to those who live with her see it as an immense strength.

She teaches me constantly on how to forgive and let go, a trait I constantly struggle with and it’s not by instruction, she just does it freely.  I feel more handicapped!!!!
She has an amazing radar to those that are struggling, especially those with cancer.  It really unsettles her to the point that something has to be exchanged, whether it’s a hug, a handshake or a friendly acknowledgement.  I love to watch it as it teaches me.  It was this very reason we started her art business JennyLU Designs eight years ago.
Jenny and I watched an Oprah episode featuring a young girl raising money for cancer thru lemonade stands.  Jenny wanted to do something too.  Being the art minded mom that I am,  I thought we could use Jenny s creative gifts that she passionately used on every card she made, which were many, and create art to donate for cancer fundraisers.  To participate with her i would add the colors to her art.  Every piece is prayed over and directed by the Holy Spirit as I ask for God’s direction.  So freeing that way!!!
It has amazed me how deep this business has gone into people’s lives in so many ways. I am so excited to be able to watch my stepdaughter evolve and find her voice.   I love seeing God move!!!

Following God’s Plans and Purposes for my Life! My Mom’s Inspiring Hope Story

Kentucky Derby

At the Kentucky Derby

My Mom is truly an inspiration in my life! She is the eternal optimist, always able to see the silver lining in the challenges that can happen in life. She is the ultimate encourager and has always been “FOR ME.” This has been such a blessing to me over the years! In fact, her positive attitude and bright outlook on life have encouraged me to step out in faith and believe in miracles. When someone believes in your potential and encourages you to “Go for It,” you often stretch outside of your comfort zone, way beyond where you normally might have settled in life. This is the legacy that my Mom has given me, the ability to believe the best and to always look for the rainbows in the storms of life.

My Mom’s positive attitude and belief in the best have served her well in life. In every opportunity that God placed before her, she has trusted His plan for her life and in doing so has experienced incredible adventures with Him!

I can’t think of a more perfect example than my Mom’s to model after, it’s short and sweet, but it’s very simple. Love God, love his people, encourage them, look on the bright side, and most of all trust in His plans and purposes for your life every step of the way. This is the story of my Mom’s life! Enjoy!

Mom & Dad

Mom’s Inspiring Hope Story

When I was young, I loved being around children. I was twelve years old when I decided I would go to college to be a teacher. I graduated from Kansas State and sure enough I had a teaching degree. Twenty-five years later, I knew teaching was gift God had given me. Encouraging people was also something I loved to do.

I retired from teaching in 2000. People would ask me what I was going to do if I wasn’t teaching. I knew God would show me what I was to do next. It was then that Jerry (my husband) and I decided to start Camp Grandbear at our Prairie Wind Farm. Our Grandchildren and their cousins were all over the country. We asked their parents to come with the “Grands” to the farm. That was the start of Camp Grandbear, our hoping to leave a Godly Legacy by letting all the family know each other better. God had a hand in helping us to encourage and teach our family. We have been doing Camp Grandbear for thirteen years now.

Jerry and I loved meeting and greeting new people. We were asked to help start a Greeter Program at Fellowship Bible Church. This program was a labor of love for us. God brought us just the right people we needed to make this program a success.

God also led us to a Marriage Ministry at our church. We had gifts to share after almost fifty years of marriage. We loved to share encouraging words and stories. This ministry has been a blessing to both of us. The couples we have mentored are giving us hope for the future generations of our country.

On my journey with God, I found out that I had Parkinson’s. This was definitely not something I had expected, but God is walking this path with me. He has sent just the right people to help me navigate this unexpected twist in my life. My family has been wonderful and very loving. My son even said, “ So Mom, your earthly body has temporary Parkinson’s, but your Heavenly body will be perfect.” Hearing him speak this truth into my life has helped me to focus on what I CAN do, instead of what I can’t do. I can still write, so I have chosen to write personal cards to welcome people that come to our church.

I know that with God all things are possible. I can still do my teaching and encouraging other’s with God’s help. I am truly BLESSED!
